International Mixed Martial Arts Federation
The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) was founded on 29 February 2012 as the international governing body for amateur Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). Registered as a non-profit organisation under Swedish law, IMMAF serves as a democratic hub for national MMA federations and supports the growth of regulation and sport safety globally by aiding countries in the formation of federations where none exist.[3] IMMAF launched with support of market leader, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). The UFC is among promotions sanctioned by federations under the IMMAF umbrella in countries that include Brazil and Sweden
IMMAF's Vision is for Mixed Martial Arts to be recognised as a sport and ultimately become an Olympic sport.
Becoming an Olympic sport is the ultimate achievement and highest formal recognition possible for any sport. Recognition is even more critical for the safeguarding of MMA’s participants worldwide. The challenges for MMA are great, but so are the opportunities, and the sport should have no lesser ambition.
IMMAF takes this purpose and vision seriously and pledges to safeguard the trust invested in it by the national federations, as well as that of all other stakeholders of the sport. IMMAF endeavours to earn this trust through its actions and by clearly communicating what the IMMAF brand stands for. Its promise is to at all times deliver upon being Open, Dependable and Progressive.
